Lugnut Brand Records is extremely happy to bring you this tribute to Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings. Originally from The Sharon Jones album of the same name, “100 Days, 100 Nights” as done by Kansas City’s Chris Hazelton’s Boogaloo 7 is no joke. Listen carefully and you could almost hear Sharon Jones singing through Hazelton’s Hammond Organ with all of that great depth and soul you’d expect of this combo. Rounded out by his Boogaloo 7, this tribute has no choice but to shine. To paraphrase Jamison Harvey AKA DJ Prestige (who wrote the liner notes for the Sunflower Soul release, The Basement Beat), “A Powerful song on it’s own, and Sharon Jones at her best, Hazelton replaces her voice with his Hammond organ, and once again preaches the good gospel.” Along with a great sax solo by Zak Pischnotte, you’ve, of course, got Chris Hazelton screaming over the top. Side B starts off right where the A Side ended with the soulful “Hazelton coming back in with the fever and spirit of Sharon herself, to carry this beautiful and respectful cover to the promised land.”
